How can I use iKickButts in the classroom to educate my students?
iKickButts engages students in community science by tracking and analyzing TEC waste. Through the app, students can:
- Access educational resources related to TEC waste and the outdoor environment.
- Identify, categorize, and record TEC waste in a designated study area.
- Create private classroom projects to collaboratively collect and analyze data.
- Generate reports (PDF) and data (CSV) for data analysis.
- Explore advocacy resources to connect with community leaders.
For additional classroom resources on teaching students about the environmental impacts of TEC waste, click here to access the Stanford REACH Lab’s Tobacco Prevention Toolkit.
Note: “TEC Waste” refers to the non-biodegradable and toxic waste generated by smoked, heated, and smokeless tobacco (T), electronic smoking/vaping devices (E), and cannabis (C) products.
